I received a B.S. degree in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University and a doctorate in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from the University of Miami School of Medicine.
I began my career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Medicine. I then served as a Gubernatorial appointee to direct the Florida State Offices of Vocational Rehabilitation and Social Security Disability Determination, as well as the State Programs for Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury. In this position I managed healthcare and community-based services for all disabled adults in the State of Florida.
I then founded and served as the Executive Director of a not for profit organization named the International Institute for Healthcare and Human Development. This organization provided healthcare policy, management support services and training for government agencies serving disability and chronic disease populations.
Currently, I am the President and CEO of Nuovo Biologics, LLC which is in the drug discovery and development business. This company is developing antiviral and oncology drug products.
